What is the People’s Pantry?

The People’s Pantry is a place where residents can come for food to get them through a rough period in their lives. All items available are the result of donations from the community. Special programs include School Supplies, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Where is the People’s Pantry?

It is located in Frazer, PA, by Covenant Presbyterian Church, accessed via Church Rd. traffic signal then through the D’Anjolell Funeral Home parking lot.

Who runs the People’s Pantry?

A Board of Directors oversees the Pantry. Volunteers from the congregation at Covenant Presbyterian Church and the local community staff the Pantry.

Who can come to the Pantry and do they need to show anything?

Anyone in the Great Valley School District or zip code 19355 who needs assistance can shop. First time pantry visitors must show a current valid ID (picture, when possible) for each household member. All pantry visitors must also show proof of residency each month (a current bill or letter).

What kind of groceries are available?

Food items, baked goods, laundry detergent, toiletries, paper products, diapers (for children 4 and younger) and dairy items. Quantities given are based on family size and choice. Click here for a full list.

When can I shop?

The Pantry is open the 2nd and 4th Wednesday and Saturday of the month from 9:00-10:30 am. Clients can visit the pantry twice each month.

When can I donate items?

Donations can be dropped off at the Pantry the 2nd and 4th Wednesday and Saturday of the month from 8:00 to 10:30 AM. Or place donations in the marked box inside the double glass doors at the west side entry to the Covenant Presbyterian church office, 9 AM to 1 PM Monday through Friday. Additional drop-off times are listed on the home page.

Is there anything that is NOT accepted for donation at the Pantry?

  • Clothing of any kind
  • Household items
  • Toys
  • Expired, home canned, or opened containers of food.  We prefer regular package sizes, not sample or super sizes. However, we do accept travel size toiletries.
  • Any kind of baby furniture or equipment
  • Small or large household appliances, also for safety reasons.

Please understand our limits and abide by them. Items that are left at the Pantry that do not meet these standards must be discarded at our expense.

How can someone donate furniture or find needed furniture? What if they don’t live in the immediate community?

Paoli Presbyterian Church runs a Furniture Ministry that redistributes donated furniture, as well as new appliances, to anyone in need, regardless of where they live. Their office can be contacted at 610-644-8250 to schedule pick-up of furniture for donation or to make an appointment to obtain furniture. Another resource is the Community Warehouse Project of Chester County, PO Box 218, West Chester, PA 19380.

Does the Pantry help with rent, utility bills, and other expenses?

The Pantry does not, but the Board of Deacons of Covenant Presbyterian Church may be able to assist in limited ways. Contact the church office at 610-648-0707 during business hours (9am-1pm).

How can I help?

CMonetary Donations

Checks can be made out to The People’s Pantry at Church Road and mailed to 384 Lancaster Ave, Malvern, PA 19355. Donations can also be made online here. Grocery store gift cards are also appreciated.  Checks and gift cards may also be left in the mailbox located directly in front of the pantry.

Grocery Donations

Donations can be dropped off at the Pantry the 2nd and 4th Weds or Sat. from 8:00 to 10:30 AM, or placed in the marked box inside the double glass doors at the west side entry to the Covenant Presbyterian church office. We accept food, paper products, diapers and personal care items.
